M Life, Total Rewards… Which is Better?
Before I give you the answer, I think it’s important to explain the following: if you go to Vegas often, you have a choice to make: 1) do you play with several rewards cards and hope to receive VIP or ‘comped’ offers from at least some of them or 2) do you concentrate all you play with one loyalty program?
Before choosing I would suggest you consider what type of comp offers you seek (for example, standard rooms, upgrades or suites?); if you are after regular comp rooms, it’s probably wise to select several players loyalty programs since it’s relatively easy to receive ‘comp offers’ (free rooms, for example, though at times you will still be charged the dreaded resort fee) and the times those offers are rolled out vary with the different Vegas resort groups. For example, we often take advantage of the Total Rewards ‘free room’ offers in winter (when we receive multiple offers for several days, which allows us not to have to change resort every 2 or 3 days) and, at other times in the year, we often utilize M Life (and myVegas) offers, so we can stay longer at each resort (if we feel like doing so, depending on how ‘lazy’ we feel);
we often mix those offers with free stay at hotels from other resort groups, of course, not all on the Strip; this allows us to stay in Vegas for long stretches of time and enjoy a variety of experiences in various locations. However, if all you want is to receive VIP or free offers for luxury room upgrades or suites, then you will have to increase your play and – unless you don’t have a budget – this will mean you’ll be better off focusing on one loyalty program. But… Which one?
I like the fact that Total Rewards often send offers allowing stay several days long; I prefer them to the much shorter comp offers sent by M Life (usually 2 nights). So, if you want a longer-stay comp offer, maybe the Total Rewards players program is more suitable. Having said this, please bear in mind that these resort groups can change their complimentary policies at any time, so (for example) Caesars Entertainment may decide to stop sending longer-stay offers (though they have not done this so far, thankfully).
MLife of course has many good quality resorts (find out which ones on this page) offering many amenities in Vegas so if not only quality of rooms but also quality of amenities are essential to you, then M Life may be, overall, more suitable. We have a whole section on ‘best of Vegas‘ (see our top menu) which may be useful to you, in this case.
