Park MGM Vegas Review: is this the Las Vegas resort for you?

Park MGM Vegas has replaced the old Monte Carlo and it certainly is a different kind of resort.

Park MGM Vegas

The Monte Carlo theme has obviously gone and, indeed, there is no real theme with Park MGM.  It’s just a resort.  Many told me they like this remodelled (English spelling, in case you wonder!) resort and just become it has been remodelled, it’s certainly pleasant to stay in generally speaking.  In my opinion the pleasant-ness lies in the fact that it’s ‘new’.  However, bear in mind that some of the rooms don’t (allegedly) even have drawers!  It’s a (bad) modern trend adopted in relatively small rooms.

It won’t certainly ‘wow’ you (even though I love the stunning digital images scattered around the public areas) but it will be ‘pleasant’ enough, generally speaking.

They have removed the buffet (unfortunately) and instead they have the ubiquitous bars and restaurants all over the place.  Some of the bars are beautiful, some decorated in an ‘expensive’ old-cigar-room style (with tons of TV display sports, of course).  So South-Strip visitors will have even fewer options for buffet dining, although in all honesty the Monte Carlo buffet was never special in any way.

The rooms are pleasant, new, but not ‘fancy’.  Park MGM Vegas is roughly in the category of NYNY except, of course, it’s ‘newer’.  The pool area is now much more pleasant (more greenery and a pleasant ‘feel’ all around, a tiny imitation of the Aria pool areas) but it’s – of course – still small.   Better than the one at NYNY though!

The gym is new and it’s (for now) open 24 hours, which is simply fabulous.  Double check this before you book because MGM resorts have a habit of changing things at no notice and, usually, such changes are never for the better.   Once they had a 24 hour cardio room at MGM Grand but, on my following visit, it was removed!  So double check and, if you are into 24/hour fitness (which you need after a busy schedule in Las Vegas), let them know that you appreciate a gym which is  open 24 hours.  They need our feedback.

Pool lovers should check the best resort pools in Vegas before booking and – at the same time – bear in mind that they should also phone the chosen resort to make sure the pool will be open during your visit dates, especially if it’s winter.  There are some resort pools open all year round (which are heated of course), but not all.
