North Strip Vegas

What’s the North Strip in Vegas really like?

Video Below.  Right now it’s a mix of affordable, cheap & cheerful, barren & neglected areas, abandoned buildings as well as upcoming, new apartment suites & resorts.   You can easily have a trendy spot next to a derelict area or building.   Yet, it’s definitely an area in development, albeit slowly.  We have videos showing this area right now but beforehand:

the North Strip is from around Encore to around Stratosphere; not a walk I would recommend you do when it’s hot (May to mid October) unless you are extraordinarily fit, wear a hat, sunglasses and carry plenty of cooling water.

It’s not dangerous to walk along the North Strip, especially now that some seedy areas have been reduced, but I would not recommend you walk alone at night for significant distances only because at times it still feels desolate and ‘isolated’, peppered with some (fewer and fewer) low-end accommodation which at times spells booze & desperation.  When Resorts World opens (2018), things will probably change dramatically.   During the day it’s perfectly fine everywhere.    To be fair, the North Strip has been improving steadily, aesthetically (more palm trees in the middle of the road, the creation of the MGM Festival area – see video below – and the party youth brought by SLS) and in terms of what you can find.

The resorts in this area are Circus Circus, SLS Vegas, Sky Suites, Hilton Grand Vacations Club and of course Stratosphere and the future Resorts World.  Then of course you will find cheap motels such as the Aztec (in the video below): located next to Stratosphere, many love the cheap food and laid back atmosphere here (whilst the rooms are basic though better than the depressing outside would suggest).

When we stayed at Encore we felt as if we were completely North Strip, especially with the barren, sad area right across the street, which many guests will have to endure from their upscale accommodation.  My walk from Treasure Island to Stratosphere (see below) shows you what you’ll find as you walk along the North Strip; I think that, after watching it, you will be able to determine if staying at any of the accommodation options there is the right choice for you:
