Hi Jules, I’ve recently discovered your videos on YouTube and they are great and very informative! We’ve been to Vegas several times and pretty familiar with myvegas but we’ve never used it for room discounts. This trip we are booking 2 rooms and we’d like to stay at mirage for which they have a reward for $69 a night. Do you think this is a good deal and is there lots of red tape to go thru? Also I’m assuming we need 2 rewards since we need 2 rooms? Thanks so much!

Hello Dorene sorry for the delay but I was in Las Vegas for a long time, for an ‘updates’ trip! Ok so if you book a room on myVegas it’s best if you and your partner/spouse use 2 different accounts and you each book one set. It could only be one night each or, most likely, 2 or 3 nights offer each, back to back. Best if the room is completely ‘comped’ even though you will have to pay resort fees. We often book ‘back-to-back’. The rooms you get on a myVegas comp are usually ‘the worst’ but Mirage has decent rooms regardless. However, I personally prefer the ‘stay well’ rooms, and I’ll talk about those very soon (I have updates including video updates which I’ll post soon, bookmark the updates page). No ‘red tape’. The rate of 69 dollars is not a great deal UNLESS you book during a high-traffic period, in which case rooms could be as much as hundreds of dollars per night, and for those high-traffic times 69 dollars per night could be a good deal.

hi Jules, thanks for the reply and information. The mirage reward wasn’t valid for our travel dates so we booked 2 rooms at Excalibur and after seeing your videos I’m hopeful it will be a nice place after reading so many bad reviews.

    Hi Jules,
Pardon me for asking such a silly question, but I’ve never had to ride a taxi in the city I live in. I’m planning on traveling to Las Vegas with two other people and we are thinking about taking a taxi from one hotel to another. Do each of us have to pay for the taxi separately, or will be charged a single amount for the ride?

Hello! Sorry for the delay but I was in Las Vegas for a long time, for an ‘updates’ trip! So when you take a cab the rate is for the cab, so if there are 3 people in it, the 3 of you will share the cost, which is great! 😉

Have you been to Treasure Island fairly recently? I wonder what their basic rooms are like now, as well as the buffet. They’ve got a great deal $50 per night and 2 free buffets for Cyber Week sale. But if its not a pretty good place to stay or eat any more, then its not worth it to me. Its nice that they still offer free valet parking. Love that part of the Strip. Just never even been into Treasure Island on any prior trips.

HI! Sorry for the delay but I was in Las Vegas for a long time, for an ‘updates’ trip! I stayed at TI on my latest trip, which ended just yesterday and lasted almost 2 months! It’s not a bad place at all only that during winter their pool is closed, which I really DISlike since many resorts have at least one small pool section open during winter (and heated!). The rest is fine, and their buffet is good enough, with a fabulous self-serve drinks section including organic coffee and organic teas. I will post updates on this resort and their buffet soon, as well as many more updates. Keep an eye out on our updates page!

Please update your review and information about the Westgate Resort’s buffet. We are staying there for 5 days starting Nov 27th primarily for a major medical treatment and would appreciate it very much. Also, any and all coupon suggestions and links to this and other nearby deals and coupons, etc, would be awesome. Thank you.

    Hi Jules

I’ve just heard the Rio shuttle is stopping from 6th November. I know that’s something people use – given the Rio’s off strip location, so do you think it will have an impact on your use of their buffet?

Hi Dan! 🙂 It’ll be really interesting to see; I would not stay at Rio without a shuttle. They may be targeting visitors with cars, of which there are many. However, I’ll soon be doing the rounds so hopefully I’ll be giving you more info on this issue and on how I circumvented it, if I do! 😉

Hi there Jules. I’m leaving this comment here and not Youtube, I know it’s most likely you can read it here. This will “change your life” 😛 Well, not so much, but make for better videos for sure.
Once I found out this exists I knew it was going to be perfect for you. Not so bulky and accommodates most mobile phones. Now if you make your videos with a camera, there are either adapters I believe, or other models. In any case, just search “portable camera gimbal”

I’m planning on buyin this on for my phone at some point

You can always watch some Youtube videos reivews before buyin in order to decide if they will do the job you need them in order to end with shaky videos 😀

Well, that’s all, cheers from Argentina, and keep those great videos coming as always. Great to watch.

Hi Miguel – thank you for thinking for me! 🙂 I will take a look. When I review buffets, though, for example, because I talk in-situ, I want the video camera to be as UN-noticeable as possible.

Hi Rubi! It depends on what you like but breakfast is usually pretty standard everywhere in downtown Vegas. I like the restaurant-like atmosphere of the Golden Nugget buffet, though there is no ‘good buffet’ in downtown Vegas, unfortunately, not compared to the top 10 list! But, if you go to Main Street Station or the Fremont Buffet you will spend really little so that will make up for some of the deficiencies! 😉 I would really love to hear all about your Greyhound trip to Las Vegas. Where are you leaving from?

        Jules,

I liked your video about the Excalibur Buffet and had a suggestion, with what to do with a $100 Resort Credit. I think you should try the Steakhouse and do a full report on what you think of it. Better yet, redeem myvegas and get the $50/$100 credit and charge the rest yo your room. The buffet may be garbage, but both Luxor & Excalibur have good steakhouses.

Jules, just a FYI comment for your readers: the Vegas-Message-Board Group, which I read often, has reported that CET is ending the Rio-Harrah’s Shuttle, sometime in November. Adding this, to the New $10.00+ fee for 2018 Diamond Lounges, it makes CET a harder bet!

I just got back from 4 nights at New York New York. I did a lot of walking. I think to stay away from the slots. 10 miles in one day my record. What’s the most you have walked in a single day if you know?

    Hi Jules,

I really enjoy your video and commentary. Every time I find myself wondering something, you seem to answer the question within a moment or two. We have not been back to Las Vegas since our children were born (5 and 2 years ago) so I love to watch your videos and relive the fun. The last time we were there, Caesars had one of the worst buffets on the strip so a lot has changed. I’ve always wondered. Do you get the buffets and rooms for free because of your media following?

    Thanks,
    Brian in Canada

Hello Brian! Thank you and hello to Canada 🙂 That’s what I like to do, offer people a chance to almost think they’re there themselves 😉 What I do is stay in Vegas as a frugal tourist, so I exploit all the potential comps and offers I can find. Then of course I play myVegas and I gamble, which adds more comps! 🙂

Hi Jules, I just moved to Las Vegas and love it, but wanted to know the best buffets to find Prime Rib. While I know you’re not that into the carving section, I still thought you would be the person the most in the know!
    Thanks, we love your videos!

I’ve enjoyed all of your videos over the years! Thank you for sharing all of this! Wondering if/when you will post a new review of the basic rooms at The Linq and update your experiences there? I was offered 5 nights at 3 comp and $23 Fri $63 Sat plus resort fees, of course. Wondering, for that cheap price averaging $17 per night plus resort fee, is it worth staying there? Mostly I go to Vegas for restaurants and shopping. I’m a solo traveler in my early 40’s. Usually I have stayed in North Strip area at Wynn, Encore, SLS, Lucky Dragon, but have paid significantly higher room rates for luxury I didn’t particularly need. I’ve stayed twice at SLS and am fine with their rooms and level of cleanliness since I love their restaurants and casino. Now I’m ready to explore mid strip and hoping to get your updated opinion on the new Linq Promenade and the rooms.

HI there! Thanks for sharing your experience! I agree, I should… It’s hard for me to book there because I simply… don’t like it in any way and I can stay for free in much better resorts… But I agree, I should make a huge effort ( 🙂 ) and book there again (I did do a walk-through even of the inside corridors with a peek-a-boo of a room), even if for one night only.
Single in your 40s? Well of course an ‘affordable’ resort on the Strip will have many crowds on a budget, usually young or simply trying to spend as little as possible. There are many young crowds there and a surprisingly noticeable number of people of older ages on a budget (even those I would describe as back-packers). If you are not interested in a luxurious room (or a large room), don’t care about a good gym or a large beautiful pool, and are happy to get out of the hotel to find what you want, then the Linq is absolutely fine! Some rooms are larger but I have seen a lot of small rooms, though SLS rooms are much smaller (some of them) so you will already be used to it. When I stay mid-Strip I stay at Paris or Caesar’s or Bellagio (comped) or Mirage (if I can get there, but it’s usually more difficult). On a very expensive weekend I stay at Gold-Coast and get on the shuttle, but of course if staying on the Strip is your priority, and this time you want the higher end of mid Strip, then yes, Linq can be a good option. I am really interested in what you think once you have stayed there, given your different priorities! 😉

I love the site and information that you provide! I had some ideas that’s may bring more traffic to the site…I’m in Vegas right now, last night, Friday, I wanted dinner and today, Saturday, I wanted brunch…Majority of visitors do so over the weekends hence why a weekend brunch buffet exceeds the cost of a weekday dinner…then you have drastically different options for dinner from sun-thurs, Friday and Saturday…I think a breakdown of every meal or at least brunch and dinner since most of the popular buffets do not even offer lunch…Which weekend brunch buffets offer crab legs/lobster/steak/omelets/alcohol? If I’m willing to throw down $50+ for weekend dinner, which should I choose, again who offers steak/prime rib and the best seafood offering?

Hello Matt! 🙂 Love your post however I am not sure I understood. So you suggest that I post information on where to find crab legs or steak or lobster for a weekend or a weekday lunch etc? I have that information scattered. I do have a post on where to find the best seafood at lunch but I do appreciate that maybe more specific posts on specific foods are due… Is this what you suggest? Or did I misunderstand you? 😉

“crab legs or steak or lobster for a weekend or a weekday lunch etc” that is correct! I did see the best seafood at lunch so more things like that…I also believe the overwhelming majority of visitors do so over a weekend with Saturdays being the busiest…I believe a that covers the “best dinner buffet during the weekend” would be a great place to start…
