    Hi Jules,
I found your videos on YouTube and I just wanted to thank you for all the detail. I am heading to Vegas the end of June as a first timer, so these are all very helpful. I have only gotten through some 60 or so videos so far, but I wanted to ask a few questions in case I don’t get through them all by the the trip. First question is related to safety. You say Vegas is very safe in a lot of your videos. In the area of Freemont street, especially when the show comes on overhead, I could see it being an opportunity for pick pocketing. Have you ever encountered or heard of that being an issue there?
Second question is relating to travel from the airport to the Hotel. I will be staying at Bally’s. I was planning on an share ride service, but someone was telling me that there are actually shuttles that take you to the hotels from the airport for about $15. Do you know anything about this and if so, do you recommend the shuttle or a share ride.
Thanks so much for all of your hard work. I have been searching for detailed videos and they are usually just some guy talking about stuff, but not actually getting detailed videos of things, so I really appreciate it.

Hello Emily and sorry for my delay! Yes there are Shuttles departing right from the airport for a very good price; I always use one. Only if you are a group it’s cheaper to get on a large cab and share the prices. I don’t use uber or similar ride shares much, although they are becoming very popular among young crowds. I personally love the reliability and professionalism of the shuttle service from the airport and the fact that I just show up and it’s there. As per safety, I have never, ever encountered a problem in any of the tourist areas including Fremont Street. If you stray from the main areas, though, you can quickly see how ‘rough’ it can feel so I would never recommend walking around by yourself anywhere but the Strip or the very heart of Fremont Street at night. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hey Jules,
Hope all is well. Just a couple of quick questions, that i know you be able to help with.
    (1) The tower rooms at Luxor look very nice. I read that alot of them have been remodeled recently How far is the walk from the tower rooms to the casino, pool, etc? Is it an easy walk or too far?
    (2) As for Vdara, similar question, how far is the walk to Cosmopolitan and Aria? Maybe 5 to 10 mins?
    (3) Last question, Ive been getting pretty generous offers from Park MGM for a while now and I dont ever play there. Here we are in June 2018 and they sent me a comp 3-night stay. What do you think about this? Is it worth going? Because if there is still a lot of construction going on, then that may be why they are sending free offers. Could also be that alot of the amenities are not available. Much Thanks for your time, i value you input, Reo.

      Hi Reo ๐Ÿ™‚
Luxor is a relatively small resort, so the walk from the tower rooms to the casino is absolutely fine, as well to the rest of the amenities. As for Vdara, the walk is not too bad but it’s not a nice one, you have to basically walk along a relatively ugly side road with a super narrow pedestrian path although luckily it’s short enough for it not to be a bother. Maybe 7 minutes from the bottom of Vdara, maybe 5, depending on how quickly you walk.
I would never go to any resort which is not fully open and I would avoid resorts which have construction going on, but for some people the offers are worth the ‘sacrifice’. It’s always advisable to phone and ask specifically which amenities will be open during your stay and which will not, and which parts will still be under construction for the period of your stay.

Hello Debbie, thanks for letting me know. As far as I know there are no youtube issue and you are the 1st person who is telling me that. You may want to go either to the videos section of this website (where there are all the newer videos) or to the youtube channel directly, rather than clicking on a post link, but by all means please send me the page where you are having problems (the link to the page) so I can check for myself, thank you for letting me know. With Caesars Palace raising the price for the summer for their weekend buffet to $59.99 for brunch and $69.99 for dinner, do you think at some point people will say “enough!” and stop going? I just can’t see the value in a $70 buffet no matter what I eat. For 2 people with taxes and tip you’re looking at about $150 for brunch and $170 for dinner. Add another $30 to that total if you get alcohol package. Insane!

Hi there ๐Ÿ™‚ no, there is no real value in such high prices as you cannot eat that much… However, many people go for the experience and they consider it as such, rather than a great deal. So anybody who chooses to go to Bacchanal for the experience and are not on a budget will continue to go, although I suspect if they raised the prices much more some would be deterred. ๐Ÿ˜‰

        Jules,

This is why I have suggested to you several times, to do a “Gourmet Value Room” section. I really think your readers would like THE Steakhouse at Circus-Circus and The Second Street Grill, at the Fremont. There is another value Italian Restaurant that will pick you up in a Pink Limo. That’s with $25-$35 meals.

    Hi Jules!
I am so glad I found you because your information is amazing! So thanks!
A few questions if you do not mind.
We are traveling to Vegas December 6th thru the 14th of 2018 and will be staying in the 2 bedroom Penthouse at The Aria. It is for my 50th birthday and we got a good deal booking in advance and using my MLIFE rewards card.
Pertaining to MLIFE……..it currently shows I am a “Pearl” member; however, it states my points expire September 2018. What happens after that? Does the tier go down or will I just need to use my credit card thru MLIFE more closer to that time-frame? I’m just a bit confused on how that all works.
Also, I saw your most recent review of The Aria Buffet at dinner-time. Would you consider 12/6-12/14 the “holiday season” where it will be super busy? We most likely would go during a weekday, but you never know!
Since we are staying at The Aria, do you suggest anything we can do to get some free buffet tickets for breakfast?
Again, thanks for sharing your information in detail! It is truly appreciated!
    Stefanie

Hello Stefanie so sorry for the delay… I was traveling! Ok, so you are going to enjoy your stay at Aria. My first and foremost advice to you based on my personal experience is… don’t gamble too much at the slot machines here. My best friend tells me otherwise but I personally never one anything here ๐Ÿ˜‰ – Now onto your questions: no, the first part of December is not consider the holiday season. But the 2nd part is, so buffets are more expensive and amenities hours in some resorts are reduced, which is incredibly annoying as the resort fee does not change!
Unfortunately, after your Pearl status expires (how annoying that it’s in September) you go back to the basic status which means no express line up or VIP line up for you… ๐Ÿ™ I hope this has helped and I hope you are checking this page again, or get notification of my reply! ๐Ÿ™‚

Hello Andrea so sorry for my huge delay in replying… I was traveling so I hope you bookmarked this page or you received a notification of my reply… Well, it was easy, actually. I looked for an offer which read ‘no resort fee’. I found it on their own website, actually, but it is usually a good idea to shop through the major Vegas deals websites to find the ‘no resort’ offers just in case. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hi Jules

This September will be my seventh trip to Las Vegas. Since I am coming from the UK we always come for a week. This time staying at the Aria taking up an MLife offer for 4 free nights.

I know there are other things not within walking distance of Las Vegas, and I was wondering if it might be worthwhile hiring a car – perhaps for the last few days of our trip. It would let us get out to see the Red Rock, M Resort, Lake Las Vegas etc which I have never been to.

You’ve got a section about hiring a car, but I was wondering if you had any thoughts on the sorts of things it’s worth hiring a car to see – especially after you’ve done a few trips and ‘covered all the basics’.

    Thanks

    Dan B

Hi Dan, so sorry for the huge delay in replyingโ€ฆ I was travelling so I hope you received a notification of my reply now or that you check this page at least occasionally… Ok, so I always recommend hiring a car especially if you are Pearl or above in terms of MLife status (otherwise you will have to pay all the parking fees). Some resorts, especially those outside the Strip do not have the annoying parking fees so you are ok with that. If you want to concentrate on all the resorts on the Strip you will need at least 3 days and that’s really, really an intensive ‘program’ LOL. Then there’s downtown … But if you have a car you can pick and choose and ignore those resorts you are not that interested in. I personally love the freedom to go to the fabulous Wicked Spoon whenever I want or even Red Rock but… As a first timer you have a lot to cover on the Strip. But some of the best buffets are not on the Strip and going to Wicked Spoon, for example, is an experience you’ll remember (it’s simply so, so vast!). It’s a personal choice. What I wrote about car rental is still valid, we rented a car on my very last trip and would not have done it differently. The best deals are always at the airport or just outside, as mentioned. The worst deals are – in my experience at least – at the resort. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Hi Julia,

Does the Wynn brunch have crab legs? I’m trying to experience an AWESOME brunch and I can’t decide if I want Wynn or if there’s another one just as good but slightly cheaper then of course I want to try that. I’ve been thinking about AYCE at Palms and get the players card. But I’m just so impressed with the Wynn’s made to order pancakes (not a deal breaker). So what do you think?

Ayce is great but you can’t compare it to Wynn of course (well, look at the huge price difference). I love Mirage, especially in terms of value for money, and it’s nearby! But it really depends on what you really value. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Hi Jules,
I was wondering if you could give me your opinion regarding MLife.
On my last visit to Vegas(June 2017) even though I stayed at another property, I gambled at Excalibur often and when I checked my coin in/out I had run through just over $10,000. I am staying at the Excalibur in June this year and even though I have already fully paid for my entire stay. Do you think if I enquire at the start of my stay at the MLife desk they would comp me a free buffet in regards to my previous play.
Any advise would be much appreciated in how to approach and enquire.

    Thanks

    David

Hi David, so sorry for the huge delay in replying… I was traveling so I hope you received a notification of my reply now or that you check this page at least occasionally … ๐Ÿ™‚ Well, if you spent a huge amount gambling and they registered it on your MLife card (which happens everytime you use the card while gambling) they should have sent you VIP offers already by email. If not, I strongly recommend you contact casino marketing or VIP services BEFORE you book (you can always cancel your current booking as long as it’s 72 hours prior to your arrival date, I think – double check of course) and see what they can offer. It works this way. Once you are staying at the resort, it is harder to get comps for previous play. They give comps for your current play. So for example the night before you check out you show up at VIP services or casino marketing or even the MLife kiosk and ask them what they can offer you (how much they can remove from your room bill) for the gambling you did on that very stay. For this reason you must ALWAYS charge everything to the room and not pay separately. I hope this helped! Jules

Hi Jules, love your buffet reviews you are so thorough and discriminating, much appreciated. My husband and I are looking forward to going to Las Vegas for our 30th wedding anniversary in May. I would love some suggestions for hotels to stay in on the strip. We will be flying in from So. Cal and staying for three days; 18-20th. Do you suggest we rent a car to get around in? My husband has a difficult time walking a far distance. You mentioned Studio B as a great place to eat, any others? We don’t drink or gamble but do want to experience a great show. Do you think Cirque du Soleil is a good choice? Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks, Linda

Hello, thank you and lovely to hear from you Linda! Sorry for any delay in replying, I am currently traveling so with less time to check messages, but I should be able to post new videos very soon ๐Ÿ˜‰ In reply, well yes definitely, I always prefer renting a car although given the parking fees on the Strip it’s best if you are Pearl or up with the MGM Group. Off-Strip resorts do not have parking fees, some of them require that you stamp a buffet receipt or similar, but it’s really easy. So Studio B will be a lovely, must-go trip which will not cost you any parking fee (keep your buffet receipt just in case). I like “0” and “Reve” but it really is a personal choice. I would not go out my way to see a show, but if I have time definitely! As per hotels, it really depends on your budget and your preferences. What are they?
