MGM Sale Bellagio Circus Circus

As you know there have been news of MGM Entertainment wanting to sell properties on the Strip and focus on entertainment (I’d call it low-quality, easy entertainment), in a move to chase long-time Vegas gamblers/visitors even further away and the heavy-gambling seniors furthest.  This property sale will affect everybody in several ways.  Changes may be for the better, who knows, but it may affect myVegas too.  I talk about this further down.

Most senior gamblers are now playing in more “generous”, local casinos (such as at Niagara Falls if you are in Ontario or at the 2 great casinos in Vancouver BC) and avoid the Strip altogether (understandably) and others play online.  Some will still go to off-Strip casinos (such as the magnificent M Resort or even Red Rock) as those into the traditional Vegas thrill will still be very welcome off the Strip.  Even the very best, most modern, high-tech cinemas are OFF the Strip (such as at Palms at the Red Rock Casino).

What will happen to MGM Grand, Bellagio and Circus Circus and how it will affect visitors and even myVegas?

MGM Resorts International is working toward a deal to sell another Las Vegas Strip casino, the MGM Grand, before the end of the year, part of a continuing strategy to pull cash out of its real estate, company officials said Wednesday.

Earlier this month, the company agreed to a sale-leaseback of the Bellagio and an outright sale of Circus Circus on the Strip, separate deals the company expects to generate a combined $4.3 billion in net cash.

My advice to all myVegas players is cash in as soon as possible and then bear in mind that there may be changes in the rewards you will be able to purchase.  So, as always:  do NOT purchase chips because you may not get your money ‘back’ through the rewards.

The Drew Las Vegas Resort & Casino: 2020 Promise of the North Strip

The New Drew Las Vegas Resort & Casino!  Ever wandered what would happen to the 63-story, blue, ghost building known as Fontainebleau in the North area of the Strip? Well, wonder no more. It’s changed ownership and it is now scheduled to open in 2020 as The Drew Las Vegas Resort & Casino under a partnership between Marriott International and real estate firm Witkoff.

This ‘newly resurrected’ resort and casino will have about 4,000 rooms and suites, convention and meeting space, and amenities, dining, entertainment and nightlife expected by a resort and casino in Las Vegas.

I am personally thrilled to hear that the barren area near Circus Circus and SLS is going to get some sort of ‘lift’. Of course, there’s also the very much anticipated “Resorts World” which, however, seems to being built very slowly by Vegas standards and it’s only still an initial work-in progress. Check our video updates on this area of the Strip.

The old Fontainebleu will be the Drew Las Vegas Resort &  drew las vegas resortCasino.  So far it’s supposed to grace us in 2020 but, with the experience we’re having with Resorts World, ironically in the same area, who knows if it will be operational then, though at least the building is half-done already!

It would be so nice if the new Drew Las Vegas resort & casino could go beyond a modern ‘blob’ (though we love the blue color, if they keep it) and embrace an exciting new theme, but so far there is no evidence of this taking place.  Hopefully Resorts World will add a great theme resort in that area.

Check our latest videos and updates because we do follow the developments in this northern area of the Las Vegas Strip; several videos of this area will show you what it’s like now and what it’s been like in the last few years.

Monte Carlo Vegas Renovations Update

Monte Carlo Vegas Renovations Update (early 2018). If you plan to stay at Monte Carlo right now (as you may know this resort will soon be Park MGM), you may need to know that major renovations are still taking place and, while room prices may be lower due to this and free upgrades may be offered as well for the same reason, before you book you need to know what really  matters to you and if renovations are going to ruin your stay.  This is what I mean:

The pool is currently closed; guests can use MGM’s or Mandalay Bay’s, both stunning, but they are going to be packed for this reason (they often are anyway) and it’s going to be very inconvenient to go there and come back.  They’re not next door; it’s a long walk to MGM Grand and the shuttle to and from Mandalay Bay seems to be really packed.

There may be drilling in the morning (and day) in some sections and, unless you’re an early riser and you leave the room immediately, it may affect you.

Some of the rooms may not have been remodeled yet and if so they will be far from perfect, since they’re awaiting remodeling.  Enough said.

If it’s fully comped and you don’t care about any amenities, and you don’t care about potential morning noises (you may hear outside construction as well), then by all means it could be a great deal, especially if you receive a free upgrade to a suite or for only a few dollars.

The outside (at the end of 2017 – beginning of 2018) still looked like a building site.  We have a video showing you this.  No waterfalls, no trees, no grand entrance, just a building site.

Conclusion (Monte Carlo Vegas Renovations Update): you you need to know exactly what your needs are and you need to be prepared to phone and email management to ask in advance what exactly will be affected by the renovations; ask specifically about anything you are interested in (pool, gym, buffet, room quiet, exterior renovations, food court, shuttles etc).
