Elara Review

A Hilton property, Elara is probably a good idea if you want a good mid Strip (close to South Strip) location, want to avoid a casino atmosphere (and the casino smoke!) and prefer an overall more relaxed atmosphere (though of course peace and quiet is not guaranteed, since it also depends on the clientele at the time). Its rooms are large and modern, it’s pool area is very pleasant, elegant and modern (with equally elegant and modern cabanas). Quite popular with business guests, relatively ‘older’ guests and families.

There are no restaurants (though you can order room service) and no night clubs and a limited number of bars; for this reason, some say it’s not ideal for younger party crowds or solo travelers; however, it is close to Planet Hollywood, a favorite among young crowds; it is also relatively close to Aria, Cosmopolitan and, slightly further up the Strip, Bellagio and Paris; slightly further down you can walk to MGM Grand, its many bars and its huge Hakkasan club. Thus, you will be close to enough activity (day and night) suitable for all ages and expectations. Provided you don’t have a walking problem, you can walk to all the above resorts, eat and have fun there relatively easily. During super hot months, however, bear in mind that walking on the Strip can be very challenging, especially for those sensitive to intense heat (albeit dry).

If you have a gambling problem you may prefer to opt for non-gambling establishments such as this one, so you will not be tempted to gamble on your way back to your room, for example. Similarly, if you want to avoid the ‘crazy’ party atmosphere some Strip resorts embrace, Elara could be a good option. If you want to try a top Vegas buffet without using a taxi, you will be close to the excellent Aria buffet. If you are a solo Vegas visitor wanting to mingle at bars at all times, then perhaps Elara is not ideal for you, but if you want a refreshing, soothing place to sleep in between ‘Vegas fun times’, then Elara will be absolutely fine.

We’ll be writing more on Elara in the coming weeks, possibly adding a video-review on our youtube Vegas channel.
