Pet friendly Vegas Hotels

3 Choices you have if you want your pet in Vegas

(with updates further down the page)

I still have vivid memories of staying at a major Vegas resort and being woken up by the persistent barking of a dog in distress; it would not stop. So, my friend and I decided to investigate. We went to all the floors until we located the room from which the barking was coming.

Well, it was not difficult actually since there was a small group of wannabe-sleepers gathered around the outside door of the room where the dog had mistaken this Vegas hotel for a barking competition or, most likely, was barking at every sound in this new, strange, environment (for him/her).

After a few minutes of commotion, security came in only to find the dog had been left alone by its owners, who were probably out and about enjoying Las Vegas at night. However, when they returned they were asked to leave on the spot. I don’t know what else happened, but dog and owners were no longer there 2 hours later.

So, if you have a pet and wish to go to Vegas with him or her, what do you do?

You have 3 choices for your pet in Las Vegas:

1 – Choose an off-Strip motel or hotel (with apartment-style suites, ideally, where the rules are more ‘relaxed’) which allows pets: they usually allow one dog and, if you are lucky, one cat. There may be size restrictions though; some have a maximum allowable pet weight of 50kg (which is quite large, really… You don’t own an elephant, do you?); several of them do allow up to 2 pets per room or suite so just ask them in advance. Never show up with a pet and assume you can hide him/her in a room. You will have a bad Vegas holiday!

2 – On the Las Vegas Strip, several resorts now allow one small to medium size pet per room or suite; some even 2 pets per room or suites. These Vegas resorts belong to the Caesar’s Entertainment Group; of course you can only choose among certain allocated rooms (so that people with allergies can breathe in their rooms) and you must book in advance, to make sure they do have availability of such rooms or suites. Moreover, you will be completely liable for any scratch or damage your pet will make and of course responsible and liable for his/her behavior.

3 – Choose many pet hotels available in Las Vegas. Of course, if you bring your pet, you probably want to spend time with him/her but, let’s face it, you (most often than not) will not do so: Las Vegas is a city of many activities and you will rarely spend long stretches of time in your room. Finding a good quality pet hotel in Vegas may be the best option for you. It really depends on your Vegas ‘fun’ schedule.

Update and hotel list. The ‘Pets Welcome’ policy adopted by most Caesar’s Entertainment Hotels in Las Vegas is now as follows: guests travelling with their dog/s will be asked to fill out a waiver form accepting responsibility for any damage or cleaning charges that may occur while at the hotel. Dogs are only allowed in specified guestrooms and guests must make reservations in advance to travel with their dog. The hotel only allows dogs that weigh less than 50 pounds and up to two-dogs are allowed per room. If you have a cat or other small pets you need to ask in advance.
